First time carving copper today!

I designed the suspension box to be flexible and I’m delighted that this system is capable of DMM.

I will continue R&D on this throughout the preorder lead time and will make some optimised optional upgrades available.

Somewhat of an experiment in terror, I spent 1/2 an hour calibrating and then wasted more space with an ultra wide fixed pitch. #theshining
Not too bad for an old diamond and the current belt drive setup on this working prototype.

We’re currently finalising T&Cs and our sales contract which we will be sending out to interested parties.

After & before... I prefer not to show works in progress but the nature of this project requires time and funding.

This initial limited edition preorder will allow us to finally realise a new generation of disk mastering systems.

I want to thank everyone for the patience and support they’ve shown me over the years.

The video shows the working prototype, (cobbled together after 4 years of design revisions of this particular system) cutting an Apollo dub plate via the first Sillitoe / Perfect Groove custom control software.

Video illustrates groove depth resolution in manual mode.

1. Power on (meter defaults to groove depth current reading).
2. Head drop / lift switched to manual mode.
3. Head drop (see scale value under cutterhead).
4. Groove depth switched to manual mode.
5. Basic depth potentiometer set to max (see current meter & scale values increase).
6. Second depth “II” engaged (see current meter & scale values decrease).
7. Groove depth switched to auto mode (no input).
8. Head lift.

A couple of things to note here, in cutting we use the microscope and our experience with the system (mechanical calibration, current metering etc) to achieve correct groove geometry.
The weights / force shown in this video are arbitrary values as the scale underneath the cutterhead prevents the mechanical assembly from sitting in the actual cutting position.
